On 2/20/2015 I shipped my prized 2011 GR1 off to GORUCK Scars for some TLC. The issue? There was a small tear forming at the top of the bag and I figured it was time to have that looked at. This GR1 was purchased in August, 2011 and accompanied me on my first GORUCK event: Class 053 with Cadre Brian.
Now this tear is small but it’s something I wanted to have taken care of before I retire this pack from events. It has been with me through 10+ events and is still hanging on. I’m planning on using this as an every day pack and using a Ranger Green GR1 for my upcoming events. With that in mind I sent the Scars program a message with a picture of the tear. Maybe 10 – 15 minutes after submitting the form I received an email from Clay letting me know that they’d definitely fix the pack all I had to do was send it over to them. Easy enough… dropped the package off Friday afternoon and waited for USPS to do their job. I did have to pay shipping from my place to GORUCK but they paid for the return trip. In the past (when the fault has been on their end) they’ve paid the shipping which was awesome. If the fault is all on me (like using this pack for double digit events) then I fully expect to pay the shipping.
USPS delivered the package to GORUCK 3 days later (on Monday) and from there it was processed. I actually received an email from GORUCK before USPS tracking had updates so that was pretty awesome. After waiting a couple days Clay sent another email to me letting me know mine was about to be worked on… great! Thursday (2/26/2015) I received another email from GORUCK stating my pack was all fixed up and was on its way home to me.
On Tuesday (3/3/2015) the pack showed up at my place all fixed up. The GORUCK Scars program sometimes includes a patch (if they have them available) and I lucked out in getting one.
There’s the fix! I’d say it was a success… no more hole in the pack! This is the second time this pack has been to Scars and the third time I’ve utilized their program. If you’re curious about the other experiences I’ve had you can check out the following two posts:
I’m happy to say that GORUCK Scars is still an A+ experience. It has so far beat out any other warranty program I’ve used and it amazes me that they’re able to keep it at such a high standard.
