Pants
GORUCK Tips
I use pants at all of my GORUCK events now. Previously I used shorts but quickly became tired of my knees getting cut up from low crawls on the ground. There’s a good chance that at some point you’ll be crawling over sand, dirt, rocks, or concrete and any of those can do a number on your knees.
Once I started wearing pants to these events everything changed… no more banged up, bloody, and cut knees. Because of this I recommend pants to everyone who attempts a GORUCK event. It should be noted that this is just my preference and I’d say 80% of people at these events wear shorts… but there are definitely a few who wear pants.

I have read most of your reviewed and I am very glad I found your page.
My questions are:
1.)Why did you choose AC over RS?
2.)I noticed the specs on the pants say the belt loops are 1″. That seems narrow. What type of belt do you use?

I’m glad everything has been helpful! I hope these answer your questions:
1) I chose the AC over the RS because we knew in advance that we would be in and out of the water 6 – 10 times over the course of the Heavy that I bought them for. I wanted something that would literally dry as quickly as possible and the 100% nylon would dry quicker than the 52/48 NYCO blend on the RS.
2) The info on the TAD site must be incorrect. I use this Rail Riders belt with them and that belt is 1 1/2″ and fits great. I’m pretty sure it’s a 2″ opening.
