Richard talks about his experiences with the GORUCK Star Course. We start off with his completion of both the 2018 DC Star Course 50 and 2018 Cincinnati Star Course 50 then move into his thoughts and completion of the GORUCK Star Course 12.
Richard has some great thoughts and perspective on the event and the series in general. His background is in endurance events so he has quite a bit of experience when it comes to longer distance challenges.

Loved this episode. Richard’s endurance background and his insight on how to train was so helpful. We did 50 miles in DC and ran out of time, mostly because we got lost at the Mile Marker Zero point and because we didn’t train for a fast enough pace. Richard’s thoughts on his training and the freedom of the 12 miler was a great listen. Thanks.

Thank you! The navigation portion is really interesting and can definitely throw a wrench in the pace. Many in the community don’t come from an endurance background so I really appreciated Richard’s points and experience there. I’m really curious what he has up his sleeve for future Star Course events… I feel like he’s got a fire in him after hearing that a team completed the 50 then came back and completed the 12.
