GORUCK is back at it again and has opened the doors to their GORUCK Workshop. The first pack they released through this program was the GR3 and this time around they are allowing people to customize their GR1.
Base Price
For $300 you will end up with the base product which is a semi-slick version of the GR1 with webbing sewn into the bottom. This version does maintain the 3″ wide x 2″ tall Velcro which was not present on the original run of Slick GR1s.
Bottom Webbing
Every single GR1 coming from this line of Workshop GR1s will have webbing (similar to the GR3) sewn into the bottom of the pack.
Molle Webbing
For $5 you can get the side and front webbing sewn into your GR1. If you choose only this customization you’ll end up with a standard GR1 with the addition of the webbing sewn into the bottom.
Extra Velcro
If you ever said that the GORUCK GR1 did not have enough Velcro on the front then your day has come. You can now get a 6″ wide x 4″ tall rectangle of Velcro sewn into the front of a 21L GR1 and a 9″ wide x 4″ tall rectangle of Velcro sewn into the 26L GR1.
This is in addition to the ever-present 3″ x 2″ Velcro sewn into the top of the pack. The addition of the Velcro is $5 on top of the added $5 for additional webbing price.
Side Handle
For an extra $15 you can have a side handle sewn into the GR1. The side handle looks very similar to the ones that were allowed on the GORUCK GR3 during the customization of that pack.
Pack Size
The GR1 21L and GR1 26L cost the exact same… it’s all on preference at this point. It was very nice of GORUCK to include separate images for each so you can see how the added Velcro appears on the different sizes.
The Breakdown
Item | Cost |
---|---|
Slick Pack with Bottom Webbing | $300 |
21L vs 26L | +$0 |
Webbing | +$5 |
Webbing + Velcro | +$10 |
Side Handle | +$15 |
The Details
This is the first time that GORUCK has allowed a current pack to be customized through their GORUCK Workshop program. It’s very exciting to see them make use of the Workshop and hopefully that means that even more customization and various options are in our future. The Workshop GR1 ships in August of 2018 so if this is something you’re interested in get your pre-order in and grab yourself a fairly unique GR1!
We would love to get your take on the options presented for the Workshop GR1. Anything you are a huge fan of? Anything you hate? Let us know in the comments!
