Lightload Towels

Here’s the marketing speak on Lightload towels: Lightload® Towels are ultralight, super absorbent, quick drying, and soft on your skin. They’re made of Lyocell, a material derived from plants. Lyocell absorbs up to 10 times its own weight. It’s more absorbent than cotton and dries a lot quicker. When the towel gets saturated, just wring it out and keep drying. They’ll wick moisture away and dry much more quickly than a bandana. And they’ll keep you cool and dry in the heat and warm and dry in the cold.

Here’s my thoughts on Lightload towels: Light load towels are incredibly small and light, essentially dehydrated, towels. If you find a water source you can open them up, get them wet, and they turn into real hand towels. These things are slick for wiping your face, hands, neck, gear, etc. after getting sweaty. When it’s hot out it can be nice to get one of these wet and put it over your neck on those nice longer 12 miler rucks. If you’re into the ultralight thing these are pretty much the lightest towels available making them great for hiking and travel. When you’re done just wring them out and toss them in a small bag or something.

They’re machine washable although I usually just wash mine by hand… that way they last a really long time. Honestly this is kind of a weird product to sell on here and the picture they decided to use on it is kind of weird. All that being said it’s a pretty cool product and it’s cheap… so give one a shot and see how you like it.

In case you’re curious how these two sizes stack up against each other compact here they are on the inside of a GORUCK GR1. You can use the webbing there to gauge how small they truly are.

Here’s the depths for the two of them. Although the 12″ x 24″ is twice as large as the 12″ x 12″ it is DEFINITELY not twice as large when compact.
