The HPP (Hidden Patch Pocket) is two thin pieces of Velcro sewn together with a Velcro opening on one of the two sides. There’s loop on the front (so you can place a patch over it) and then hook on the back so that you can place it on a backpack (like a GORUCK bag) with Velcro. You can put whatever you’d like in the HPP… maybe a spare SD card in case you fill up your camera’s card or a few ibuprofen in case you get a little sore on your 30 mile ruck.
It’s specifically sized to be just under 3″ wide so that it can fit directly behind a traditional 3″ wide x 2″ tall patch without exposing itself on either side. You can see the small opening as well as how it fits on the back side of a GORUCK event patch.
Once it’s attached it adds hardly any additional thickness and when you look directly at the patch you can’t tell there’s anything behind it.
That patch can then be affixed to anything that has Velcro loop on it like a hat…
… or a backpack. You can see that it does add a little bit of thickness but it’s nothing anyone would notice unless they were specifically looking for it. Although it is secure there is always the chance someone could rip your patch or HPP off. It is important to know where you are and your surroundings so that you can keep your stuff safe.
