GORUCK has officially announced their new pack, the GR3, publicly through the YouTube video below. It was posted yesterday in the GORUCK Tough group (on Facebook) and has finally been made public.
GORUCK GR3 Announcement Video
If you have 3 minutes and can turn on your volume (aka not in a bathroom right now) it’s recommended that you watch the video below. If, for some reason, you can’t turn on the sound then check out our video analysis for the quick details about the GORUCK GR3.
GORUCK GR3 Video Analysis
Don’t have time to watch the video or not in a place you can use sound? Here’s the breakdown on what we can tell from the video.
First things first… Jason will get winded after rucking 6 to 10 feet with the GR3. Kidding brother, had to throw that out there! What you will probably first notice is that there is a hip belt on the pack.
Don’t fear… the hip belt is completely removable so if you’re not in a situation that calls for a hip belt you don’t need to have it attached.
The GR3 features a laptop compartment (like the Echo, GR1, and GR2) and also features a side carry handle on the wearer’s left side. You’ll also notice compression straps built into the GR3 which are very similar to those that were on the original GR2.
The inside of the GR3 is so cavernous that you can fit an entire (packed) GORUCK GR2 inside of it. It’s almost reminiscent of a GORUCK Kit bag with shoulder straps.
The GR3 will feature a top zipper pocket like we’ve seen on the GR1 and GR2 however the mesh zipper pocket has been broken up into two separate areas. The sizing of the pockets does not appear (guessing, only from the video) to accommodate the Wire Dopp so maybe we’ll see another run of the Mini Wire Dopp?
The final note before we break is that there’s no webbing on the back (or sides) of the pack. Jason mentioned there might be two rows underneath but only time will tell if any of that changes by release date.
Conclusion
It’s really cool to see GORUCK continue to expand their pack line. We’re very interested to see what void this pack will fill and how people will utilize it. It appears that the release date will be November(ish) so that the packs arrive in time for Christmas so that’s fairly exciting as well.
