GORUCK just released the GR1 Heritage Limited Edition backpack. This 21L pack celebrates 10 years of the GORUCK GR1 and is made out of waxed canvas and premium leather.
The leather is sourced from Red Wings, Minnesota and, according to GORUCK, it took them the past year to find the right company for the waxed canvas and leather.
There’s no external webbing on the pack which gives it the slick, professional look. From the looks of it the 3″ x 2″ GORUCK patch on the outside is sewn directly into the ruck.
This detail from the product page seems to validate that thought as well.
It’s definitely an interesting choice for the 10 year anniversary of the GORUCK GR1. The original GR1 was a 26L pack made out of 1000d Cordura and featured webbing on the back, sides, and shoulder straps.
The 10 year anniversary Heritage GR1 is a 21L pack made out of waxed canvas and leather. In addition it does not include any external webbing.
GORUCK only made 300 of these packs and has released them to the public at the price point of $595. At the time of this posting there were only 143 left in stock. It will be very interesting to see how quickly they sell. I would love to hear your comments on the GR1 Heritage Limited Edition below!

Hi Brian.
Are you going to purchase one, for hard use or for sentimental reason? {Or as future investment :) }
Would love to see your review on it.
Wishing you merry christmas and happy new year in advanced.
Thanks.

Thank you! I’ve gone back and forth on it. It’s very expensive and I don’t see a 21L use for me but it’s a piece of history so would be nice to have. Maybe I’ll buy six $100 gift cards on December 21st so that I can get six free event entries THEN buy the bag. We’ll see haha. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year in advance to you as well!

Brian, is it that they sold out quickly or all 300 are not yet available? Description on the page says full stock available by December. When I checked right as I received their email stock was about 150 so wondering if the remaining will just be added in the coming daysor have actually sold out quickly….

There were roughly 143 when they went up on the website. I wouldn’t be surprised if a few of them were being saved for staff and/or board members as thank you and Christmas presents. I’m guessing we’ll see between 100 and 125 added to the website when the full stock comes in.
It’s worth noting that all of that is pure guessing and speculation but it wouldn’t surprise me.
