GORUCK released their Challenge Windbreaker in the midweight fabric today. The Challenge Windbreaker has been out for quite a while. Once GORUCK dropped the Simple Windbreaker – Midweight we hoped it was only a matter of time before the Challenge Windbreaker – Midweight was released. We are very excited to see this out now!
Being in the Pacific Northwest I find myself gravitating towards windbreakers with hoods. I think the Grid Fleece is the first piece of outer apparel I’ve bought without a hood. Even that, however, is more a layering piece so something with a hood would probably do well over it. I can only imagine that the Grid Fleece + Challenge Windbreaker – Midweight would be a phenomenal combo!
The Simple Windbreaker (like the Simple Pants) is great when it’s not freezing outside. When temperatures start to dip it’s time to break out the midweight pants. I’ve used those midweight pants at multiple GORUCK events in the winter (temps pushing 25 degrees) without any issue. Until now I haven’t had a great warm windbreaker to reach for during an event.
Hopefully the Challenge Windbreaker – Midweight is the answer to that! Since they are made out of the same materials as the Challenge Pants – Midweight I know it will be warm enough for me. At $165 it’s by no means cheap but the SCARS warranty is tough to beat. I’ve gone through a handful of windbreakers thanks to logs ripping the shoulders up. I know if the Challenge Windbreaker gets ripped at a GORUCK event SCARS will sew it up so that gives me comfort.
Have any thoughts on the GORUCK Challenge Windbreaker – Midweight? I’d love to hear them in the comments below!
