The June, 2016 Seattle GORUCK Kill That 5K (KT5K) (GORUCK’s KT5K Page) was part of GORUCK’s Bridging The Gap weekend. It occurred on the tail end of the event and provided a nice, light-hearted finish to everything that happened over the weekend.
The Start
The GORUCK Kill That 5K event started pretty much as soon as the patch ceremony ended from the Rucking University course. From the patching ceremony we hurried over to the starting flags, received our instructions, told the course, and sent on our way.
The Course
The course was one complete lap of Green Lake with the finish being the same place we started… easy enough. It actually ended up being the reverse route that the Rucking University GORUCK Light course took so it was fun to revisit some of our stops. Thankfully it was still a gorgeous day outside making it was nice to hangout with friends… both the ones who didn’t take part in Rucking University as well as the ones made at Ruck U.
There were no medals or awards for places this year so our group relaxed and enjoyed a nice pace around the lake. Now that I think about it, even if there were medals or something we probably still would have taken it easy and enjoyed ourselves. No use stressing when the weather is this good.

Patching Ceremony
As we rounded the final bend there was a representative from Team RWB handing out patches. It was nice to get a 2016 KT5K patch (add it to the growing collection) and even better to shake the hands of the Cadre and Team RWB members.
After receiving the patch we hung out for a bit, ate some beef jerky, and eventually took a group picture. A group of ruckers (including the Cadre) headed off to a bar for an after-party but we went our separate way as it was already getting late.
Conclusion
The GORUCK Kill That 5K (GORUCK’s KT5K Page) in Seattle was a relaxing ruck around Green Lake. It was very low-key event (some Jacks Links Jerky flags, no course markers, and no timer) but it was just what we needed after the GORUCK Light. If GORUCK brings their Kill That 5K (KT5K) event back to Seattle then I’ll be there again. It was definitely a fun time and it’s always good to raise money for charity.
