Ryan’s first event was a GORUCK Light. After that he completed a second Light and then a Tough and Light. He never thought he’d be able to complete a GORUCK Heavy but here we are talking about his accomplishment.
There are a lot of people out there who are in a similar situation: completing GORUCK Light and Tough events but not sure if they can (or should) try a Heavy. Hopefully if you’re in that boat this will give you some level of confidence to give the Heavy a second look.

Killing me. I’ve been catching up on past episodes after discovering the podcast recently (because of the Snowdrop podcast with one of my favorite Marines, Cadre Flash), and this one is the most dangerous for me because Ryan seemed like a normal dude who did a Heavy. I’m in no danger of trying an HTL, but this makes me think about a Heavy next year if my next Tough goes okay. Killing me, Brian! :-)
I know! Hearing Ryan talk about it (he has more kids than I do) makes me think there’s no reason I shouldn’t be considering more in the future. It’s a slippery slope!
And so glad you found this from the Flash episode! Him and I will be talking again in a few months for another episode I’m sure. He’s a fun guy to talk to!
