The Racing 4 Valor organization was created by Mark Webb with the purpose of creating events that benefit military charities. You may know Mark as he was the organizer behind the $1 Million 4 GBF virtual run and is the reason the GORUCK Webb Tough shirt and patch were made. The 2015 Memorial Virtual Run is the first event put on by Racing 4 Valor and I’m very excited to see how it turns out.
The following quote from the Racing For Valor website summarizes exactly why I’m so excited about this and want them to succeed.
Note that Racing For Valor, and this event, are volunteer driven. Nobody at Racing For Valor draws a salary. The proceeds from this event are heavily dependent on the number of entries, and therefore economies of scale with medal production, etc. It is expected that 75% to 85% of revenue from the Memorial event will go directly to the organizations…
The three charities that the 2015 Memorial Virtual Run will benefit are the Green Beret Foundation, Warrior 360, and the Silent Warrior Scholarship Fund. All three of these charities are incredible and have a very low operating cost which means the majority of money actually goes to helping people.
The 2015 Memorial Virtual Run has fives distances (six if you count the combined) and needs to be completed over the Memorial Day weekend. The five distances are the 1.5 mile, 5k, 10k, Half-Marathon, and Full Marathon. The sixth distance is to complete all five distances over the course of the long weekend. If you choose the sixth option then, in addition to getting a substantial price break, you’ll also receive a Racing For Valor shirt. Not a bad deal.
Check out the event on their site and get registered before prices increase April 4th! Don’t forget to use the code ALLDAYRUCKOFF for an additional 10% off… which will probably be the lowest price it will ever be.
