On Thursday, February 6th, 2013 GORUCK had a Pop-Up PX at Drip City Coffee Co. in Seattle, WA. I was lucky enough to be free that night and got there around the time it opened and stayed until the end. It was an awesome event that brought out a ton of GRT and (hopefully) soon-to-be GRT. The event was very informal and it was just nice to relax with friends on a Thursday night. Once the place was full Julie (from GORUCK) talked a little bit about the company then showed some of the videos for the Challenge. This was awesome because it actually got some of these new people to sign up right there on the spot. It will be a blast seeing them during the events at the end of March. Hopefully they don’t think too poorly of us since we’ll be coming right off the Heavy portion of HCL when they’re just starting their first Challenge.
I was impressed with how much gear GORUCK actually brought out. They probably sold half of what they brought which must have felt positive for them… I know I would have been happy. I’m very hopeful that they sold enough that they’ll consider doing this again at another local veteran run business in the Seattle area. I heard Julie mention that a few more were already in the works so I’ll make sure to post an update once those are confirmed and released. I think it’s an awesome idea because it’s a great way to show off the gear, the events, and the community as a whole.
Drip City Coffee Co
Drip City Coffee Co is owned by Jeremy and his brother-in-law. Jeremy was a an active duty Green Beret and is very excited to get involved with GORUCK. So excited in-fact that he met Julie (the person running the PX) because he chased her down after seeing their ruck. I’m really excited to see what his involved will be (Cadre perhaps?) because the Pacific-Northwest area continues to expand with the number of events put on out here.
One thing that I would was pretty awesome about this coffee shop is that it’s tied in with the fastest internet in the city… a full 1000 megabit line to use for free. If you live near Seattle and want to use the fastest internet available this is the place to go.
