If you’re interested in taking part in this event you can join the Facebook Group as all of the details relating to the event and how to get the patch are posted there.
Those who are GORUCK Tough (GRT) know that there are fun events all the time to partake in. One of my favorite is the 10,000 Push Up Challenge. The challenge is exactly what it sounds like… you need to complete 10,000 push ups. That wouldn’t be too bad if you had more than 30 days to do it in… that’s right… 10,000 push ups in one month. I’ve completed this challenge twice already (usually do it in January) but now there’s an “official” patch for it. That got me thinking what better time to attempt the challenge again than now? If you’re interested you can join the challenge on Facebook and track your progress. On average you need to complete 334 push ups per day which is fairly doable.
What would a challenge be without updating progress? I’ve created a fancy little chart in my Field Notes notebook where each box is 50 push ups. I track by 50 because I always do at least 50 push ups when I go down to do them so it seemed like a good amount. I’ll update sometimes and that will be enough or too much or not…
9/18/2013 (Day 3)
After 3 days I’ve finished up the first row. This means I’m a little behind schedule but nothing I can’t make up tonight.
9/26/2013 (Day 11)
Second update and I’ve been sick for the past 5 days. I tried not to let that get me down but clearly I’m not as far along as I should be. Hoping to have 3,000 down by the end up day 12.
10/6/2013 (Day 21)
Between the week long sickness and the marathon I’m a bit behind schedule. No need to fear though I’m going to push through this and finish the 10,000 push ups.
10/15/2013 (Day 30)
Done! I did so many push ups on this day to make up for the marathon and my week long sickness but it was well worth it. I’m proud to say that I finished the 10,000 Push Up Challenge yet again and this time will be sending in for my patch.

I challenged everyone at work to the 10,000 push-up in a month back in 2013. Two of us attained the goal (I did 12,000). Fast forward 7 years. June 2020, I again posed the challenge again two of us attained the goal. I did 16,800 this time. WOW! We figured let’s do it two months in a row. July 23, 2020, yes again only two of us over achievers are committed to the challenge. I am currently sitting at over 17,000 for the month and my closest competitor Mike has over 12,000 for the month. I will have well over 20,000 perfect push-ups this month. I completed 1000 six days is a row. My best day is 1200. I complete my daily count in less than 1 hour. I am 56 years old and we work for the Dept. of Corrections. The perpetual pump feels great!

I am 73 years old, my goal this month is 12000, I just hit 8000 in 20 days. I average 400-450 per day. I started this because my nephew challenged to do more than me. He seems to be far behind. As i got into doing this, I realized that this is very attainable. Now the 12000 is well within reach.
I’m glad I was able to complete the Push-Up Challenge a while back and get my patch! Will you and Mettle-Forger be doing a Charity Push-Up Challenge in the future?
Brian Lohr says
Absolutely! Not sure where it will fall in terms of being the next event or a later event but it will definitely appear sometime. No one can escape the push-up!

Where do you get patches?
I like that idea.

I was forwarded the link for the pushup challenge recently. I sent 20 buck to wounded warrior via paypal to [email protected] I also requested to join the group. Have not been accepted as of yet to the group. Also emailed John directly about not being accepted yet. Didn’t realize until just a minute a go this contest was 2013. Are patches still available? I’m already at 1500 reps after just 3 days of pushing.

I just went in the Facebook group and it looks like there are still a few active people in there. I looked through the member list and it seems like the most recent addition was about a month ago. I wish I were an admin of the group so that I could add you!
I really hope that there are still patches remaining as this is a great fundraising opportunity.

Welp, looks like I have another challenge to work towards. Thanks for the heads up!
Good luck with it! I just got the patch for completing mine!
