Sometimes when packing for an event you have the absolutely genius idea to bring ACRT (aka beer). After loading up your ruck with bricks and the rest of your gear you toss in a few liquid bricks (beer) just incase you get thirsty during the event. There are methods to ensuring your cans don’t burst in your ruck (such as using duct tape) but we’ll leave that for a different post. This post is about the covert koozie which is an item that is 100% not necessary but can come in very handy especially during the day.
What is the Covert Koozie?
The covert koozie, simply put, is your glove. When you are out there rucking (especially when events run during the day) it’s often not acceptable to do so with an open beer in your hand. Not every place can be as practical as Las Vegas where you can literally drink beer anywhere to your heart’s content in public. Back to the challenge… so you bring these cans of ACRT with you and you’re thinking now would be a great time to crack one open. This is about the time that you put two and two together and realize it may be a little sketchy drinking that beer with all these people out and cars driving by. Generally this is when a koozie would come into play… but I’m guessing you didn’t bring one of those.
Thankfully if you didn’t bring a koozie with you on your grand GORUCK adventure just take your glove off and slip the beer right in. Really? Yes… it’s as easy as that. Some people are comfortable cracking a beer in public and some are not so much. If you need a koozie and don’t have one on you don’t forget to check your hands for a covert koozie.
