Why We Buy Patches

Our patch collection is huge and a lot of people wonder why. We wanted to take a minute to explain why we buy patches and what it means for the companies we buy from. If you haven’t seen our patch collection it’s something to look at. It’s not completely up-to-date but it’s close… so at least we have that going for us.

For starters buying patches is a great way to support businesses. Not only does the money help the company out but the visual display (whether on a pack or clothing) helps those groups out more than most realize. The first time we saw a pack (that wasn’t one we owned) with an ADR patch we were floored. That feeling still surfaces to some extent every time we see a Facebook picture that includes ADR patches. We know other companies feel the same so, in a way, by wearing patches we’re spreading joy.

A lot of people in the circles we run in use very similar packs. Whether it’s GORUCK, Triple Aught Design, or something else everywhere we go we see a lot of the same. Patches help us differentiate our gear from others which is important… we’d never want to leave our pack somewhere. This is especially important at GORUCK events… a unique patch is key to knowing which pack is yours.

Finally the a huge chunk of the patches we’ve picked up supported some charity. The ADR patches, G14, HATE, and most of the DZ patches all support important charities. It’s much easier to spend $6 – $10 on a patch when you know that your money is going to help someone who really needs it. Supporting charities and people we like is something important to us which is why we buy patches.
