Old Hold In Reserve
Every now and then I receive requests for features to be added to the website. Generally it’s in the Store area but sometimes it’s elsewhere. Over the past few weeks I’ve received the same request multiple times from different people. The request is to add an option for an order to be held in reserve then shipped out with a future order. This would save you money on shipping and would ensure that you didn’t miss a product because you were waiting for something else to come in stock.
I think we’ve come up with a way to implement this but it requires you to be smart, use your brain, and have an ADR Store account. There will be a new shipping method named “Hold In Reserve” and if you choose this then your shipment will be held pending a future purchase. You won’t be charged the $2.50 base shipping cost and will instead pay that when your final order is placed.
For example, if you buy a $6 patch you’ll be charged $6.10 and the product will be held for you at the ADR warehouse. The $0.10 is the per item shipping rate for patches. When you make your next purchase you have the option to choose “Hold In Reserve” again (and we’ll hold your order) or the “Standard Shipping” option and we’ll mail out all of your reserve packages with your current order. You end up paying the base shipping price when you place the final “Standard Shipping” order. The only way to get things out of reserve is to make a purchase so if there’s nothing you want to buy and you want your package you’ll need to suck it up and buy a sticker or something. Sometimes life just isn’t fair.
There is one important part to remember… if you don’t log in to your account then I won’t be notified that you have orders in reserve. There’s a giant reminder (see below) on the check out page so hopefully that will jog your memory and you’ll log in. If you don’t log in then you’ll receive just that order and any items you have in reserve will stay there until you place another order and are logged in. If you send an email to me before your package is packed up there’s still a chance we can fix it but nothing is guaranteed.
If this seems too difficult or inconvenient to you then just continue purchasing as normal and nothing will change :) However, if you are capable of logging in when you check out then you can use this convenient method to ensure you don’t miss out on gear and save money on shipping.
