Jason had mentioned last time he was on the podcast (YouTube) that the GORUCK MACV-1 8″ boots would be releasing for pre-order soon. It looks like they’re up on the website now!
The retail pricing for them will be $195 however if you pre-order the boots you’ll only pay $155. That’s a solid savings for committing the cash now before pre-orders end on 6/30/2019. Even though pre-orders close at the end of June the boots will not be shipping until September, 2019.
The big question I’m sure will be asked on these are if they are AR 670-1 Compliant.
GORUCK has stated that the answer to that question is YES.
If you’re curious how the MACV-1 8″ boots stack up against the original MACV-1 boots GORUCK has made that nice picture above for you. If you’re still unsure the boots on the left are the 8″ while the boots on the right are the originals.
Besides the difference in height there’s also a difference in weight. One size 9 8″ boot weighs 14.8 oz while one size 9 regular MACV-1 boot weighs 13.79 oz. That’s only a 1 ounce (7%) difference which is pretty minimal.
The GORUCK SCARS lifetime guarantee is in full swing with these boots as well. They’ll repair damages to them and if you ruck the soles off they’re replace the boot entirely.

Is this boot discontinued?
It was discounted when it was on pre-order but it’s not now that it has been released. GORUCK routinely has sales so maybe they’ll be on sale again soon!
Seriously thinking about getting a pair of these boots – they will work out great I’ve no doubt.
I’ll post up again if I order them in the next week or so.
This is excellent. Hopefully, this will help GORUCK to reach those customers who were clamoring for boots that fit mil-spec and open up a whole new segment of the market for them. I want a pair of the Coyote MACV-1s, but I don’t have any reason to buy/wear these 8″ version, so they will probably be a pass for me and I will buy the lower version instead (but that $155 pre-order price is hard to pass up). If GORUCK makes a black 8″ version, I might consider those, however. ;)
I absolutely don’t need these but I’m curious how that 8″ compares to the originals. Also a bit interested in the Rucking Sneaker they have in the works…
