Months ago Jason mentioned on the All Day Ruckoff Podcast that he was working on a book. After waiting patiently the time has finally come and the book is available for pre-order.
The table of contents for the book that’s kind of about business but more about life. When you read this you’ll see the side to being an entrepreneur that’s never glorified. It’s more of a story of Jason McCarthy’s life on the road in 2010 than a how-to business book.
The first three pages do a good job of explaining what you’re about to get yourself into. It’s a raw story of Jason’s life on the road trying to sell bags and try and make GORUCK work. The book focuses on the first year of the company leading up to the first GORUCK Challenge which is well before they hit any level of success.
If you pre-order through GORUCK’s website you’ll get the limited edition patch featured above in addition to a hardcover, signed, and numbered book.
If you like GORUCK, enjoy the story of a struggling entrepreneur, or want to learn more about the first year of GORUCK’s existence then you need to check out this book. It’s a phenomenal read and I’m sure you’ll learn a lot about both Jason and GORUCK when you finish it up.

I pre-ordered the hardcover version with the patch, but based on the pic above, it appears that there may be a softcover version. Do you know anything about ordering the softcover version (which I suspect might be less expensive)?

I don’t know for sure but I’d like to think there would be a softcover version in the works. The one from the pictures is a draft copy which is why it’s softcover… there isn’t anything on the spine of it either 😅

I went ahead and ordered my copy of the limited edition and I just got around to starting it. Good read on the origins of GORUCK and I like the photos as well. My only critique is that, at least for my copy, the font is very small, maybe unnecessarily so, which makes it a bit difficult to read.

I actually haven’t read my hardcover version yet… I should go grab it and check. The version I read had both font size and spacing issues which I guess I assumed was fixed for the actual release.
