My good friend John had the idea of Burpee-a-thon last year to raise money for the Green Beret Foundation. Last year (in the first ever Burpee-a-thon) he completed over 2,300 buprees (2,328 to be exact) in six hours and ended up raising over $2,000. Not only is he one of the nicer guys I know but he’s also one of the dumber because he’s doing it again and this time added the word “Annual” to the end of it. Anyone willing to commit to doing AMRAP Burpees for six hours then donate every cent they earn is equal parts nice, charitable, and dumb. I hope he knows I mean that in the kindest way possible.
Who’s John?
For those of you who don’t know, John completed the first ever GORUCK Challenge. In addition he was part of the first GORUCK Ascent and also completed Selection Class 000. I know for a fact that he’s signed up for the first ever HCL in Seattle and I can’t wait to see him there. He’s a guy you can trust so if you’re interested in donating you can do so through this link. If you’re interested in more about Burpee-a-thon you can check out the official Burpee-a-thon website.
The Event
The event (Burpee-a-thon 2014) will be held at Crossfit Belltown (3025 1st 3025 1st Ave Seattle) on January 11th, 2014 between 10:30 am and 5 pm. I’m absolutely planning on being there and will bring the camera and will try and take some good pictures. It should be a fun time because there will be a ton of GRTs coming out for it. If you’re going to be in the area I encourage you to stop by at least to show some support for someone who is doing a ton to help the Green Beret Foundation. In addition this event is sponsored by Georgetown Brewing which means beer which means come by and visit.
Can’t make it to the event? Maybe you can make a small donation to The Green Beret Foundation on his behalf so that he knows you’re there to support him. Don’t forget to check out Burpee-A-Thon at www.BurpeeAThon.com or on Facebook at www.facebook.com/BurpeeAThon.
