It’s been a few weeks since we completed the SERE Seattle Urban Challenge but I wanted to get my thoughts out on it before I forgot or get too busy with other events. The SERE challenge was an absolute blast and easily one of the better events I’ve done. One of the great highlights is that you’re put into a small team to complete objectives while competing against the other teams. The winner of the challenge (ours lasted 16+ hours) receives a Top Team challenge coin (front is above and back is below.) I really don’t want to give too much away so all I’m going to add is that if you get the chance to take part in this event I’d highly recommend doing it. I look forward to hopefully participating in some of their more intense events in the future.

Sounds good, I might check out SERE if there is ever one close to me.
I finished my first Goruck Challenge last weekend Class 831 in Chicago. I’m already looking for another one or two to sign up for as well as a few other events for the end of the year and next.
I enjoy the blog and follow you on twitter, if you’re ever in Chicago look me up for ACRT!

Thanks! Same goes for you if you’re ever out in Seattle!

How would you compare SERE to Goruck? Or can you?

From what I hear SERE has totally revamped their Urban Challenge since I took part in it. I’m hoping they bring another Urban to Seattle so that I can see how it has changed but for now all I know about is what’s on their website. It looks like they’re still putting some focus on the PT but a lot more emphasis on how to survive given a catastrophe.
GORUCK is more building a team out of a group of individuals and dealing with a ton of PT. Hope that helps.
