Robbie Miller WOD & Half WOD Memorial Workout

Robbie Miller (Robert J Miller) Grave

The Robbie Miller WOD is replacing the push-ups and sit-up test at GORUCK Heavy events. Cadre Dan broke the news to us about this change in All Day Ruckoff Podcast 088. This was made in addition to some other GORUCK Heavy changes. One thing he specifically mentioned was that it is up to the cadre’s discretion whether the team will complete either the full or the half WOD.

If you’re registered (or considering registering) for a GORUCK Heavy then you should absolutely give both the full and half WODs a chance. It turns out the Heavy is the ultimate team event so your teammates can assist you during the WOD. At this point I imagine there are quite a few people breathing a sigh of relief knowing they won’t have to complete 72 unassisted pull-ups!

Even if you are not registered for a GORUCK Heavy event you should still give this a shot. It is important to remember that this incredible workout is in memory of a remarkable person.

Equipment

To complete this workout you’ll need the following equipment:

The Workout

As previously mentioned it is completely up to the Cadre’s discretion whether the class will complete the full or the half WOD. It is in your best interest to try them both at least once.

The Robbie Miller WOD

The revised Robbie Miller WOD (as featured in the GORUCK Tribe: January, 2021 challenge) is as follows:

The original Robbie Miller WOD is as follows.

During the second annual Robbie Miller GORUCK Heavy the ruck was only required for both 3 mile rucks and the rucksack getups. However this is *probably* up to cadre discretion. Bragg Heavy 2019 used the ruck for all exercises and movements so prepare yourself…

The Robbie Miller Half WOD

The Robbie Miller Half WOD is as follows.

In testing the rucksack has only been required for the rucksack getups however it’s probably up to cadre discretion. Although Bragg Heavy did the full WOD they also used the ruck for all exercises and movements so prepare yourself…

Make This Count

Have you given this workout a shot yet? I’d love to see some times in the comments. Cadre Dan mentioned that it took most people 2 to 3 hours to complete the full WOD. If you’re curious about the Robbie Miller GORUCK event then I highly recommend checking out the All Day Ruckoff Podcast episode 040. That episode is an interview with Cadre Karl after he ran the first ever Robbie Miller Memorial GORUCK Heavy.

Finally, good luck with this WOD! There’s a slight chance that you’ll need it.
