GORUCK Kid Ruck Comparison: 8L vs 13L

GORUCK Kid Ruck Comparison - Top
The GORUCK Kid Rucks are GORUCK’s offering for children. They come in two sizes (8 liter and 13 liter) and, as of when this was posted, retail for $75 each. They’re made in the USA and very reminiscent of the packs GORUCK makes for adults… just in a smaller size. The goal of the GORUCK Kid Ruck comparison is to give you a better idea of the differences in sizing between the two packs.

The following are links to the various product pages GORUCK has for the Kid Ruck. These are the packs that are being compared in this post.

Side Note: When purchasing packs to review I opted for two of the Grey /w Red Kid Rucks as they’re fairly gender neutral. Being a foster parent I never know what color pack a child with me will prefer and this color has been a huge hit so far.

GORUCK Kid Ruck Comparison

The 13 liter GORUCK Kid Ruck is clearly taller than the smaller 8 liter pack.

The depths of the two packs are surprisingly similar but that’s probably good from a usability perspective.

The comparison picture on the bottom gives a better perspective of the depths. Although the 13L version is wider it’s not necessarily deeper.

The back to back picture gives a great shot of where the extra 5 liters in the 13 liter version comes from.

Besides the size of the two packs they are nearly identical in all aspects on the outside.

The only true difference is that the larger version has one extra column of webbing on the shoulder straps as they’re longer.

Just some further proof that the 13L version is much taller and just a little wider than its 8L counterpart.

Inside both packs include the same features. There’s more patch “real-estate” on the 13L version because it’s larger. Makes sense.

Both packs feature a half-zip opening which is one of the major differences between these packs and the larger GORUCK packs.

For another reference point the 8L pack barely fits within the 13L pack due to the incredibly similar depths.

You can see there’s no issue with the width or height but incredibly similar depth makes it a tough squeeze.

Conclusion

Hopefully this comparison helped you see the differences between the two GORUCK Kid Rucks. As you can tell the major difference is the size as the features are nearly identical. Now that we’ve been playing around with the Kid Rucks for a bit expect a review coming somewhat soon!
