Description
This is the leather version of the HK Clip. It has a strong antique brass snap that won’t let loose until you are ready. It can be used in your ruck or on your belt loop and will look amazing either way. The HK style clip is made by ITW Military and the leather was tanned by Horween.
Chromexcel has a soft feel in the hand, smooth texture, and has a nice pullup.
Essex has a soft feel, light texture, and no pullup.
Both are amazing leathers made by Horween Tannery in Chicago.

I was given this clip as a gift a long while back and love it. Since last October I’ve used it as a key chain pull on the smart card key for my car. It spends a lot of time in my pocket and I hardly notice it.
The leather has aged beautifully, and the clip has never given me issues.

Nice clip. The leather brings some class to the ruck and looks awesome with the SAND color. I have mine on my side MOLLE. Low profile and sexy.

What’s the biggest difference between the two types of leather? By pullup do you mean it will take a shape better (like flattening when attached to some MOLLE webbing)?

The biggest difference is the texture. The Chromexel is smooth and the Essex has a texture.
The Chromexel has some pull-up too.
Pull-up is temporary lightening of the leather when folded. This is caused by displacing oils and waxes that were hot stuffed into the hide at the tannery. The color returns to normal when the leather is flattened back out.

I have been using this clip in my ruck daily since roughly 6 months ago. It is a great addition and gives the ruck a nice sleek look with the leather accent.
