The Ruck For Recon event patch was being sold on the GORUCK SkyMall over a year ago. Some thirteen months after the last comment on that post someone found the thread deep in the SkyMall graveyard and resurrected it. Although the person who was selling these is no longer a member of GORUCK SkyMall (not sure the reason) at the very least it did make me remember the patch.
The Ruck for Recon patch features a slightly modified version of the SWSF (Silent Warrior Scholarship Fund) logo which is the traditional USMC Recon Jack. If you’re curious about the logo you can check out the “History of the Logo” page on the SWSF website. Although (as far as I can tell) the patch is no longer for sale if you want to support the SWSF you can always buy a shirt by making a $30 donation. If things change and it looks like these patches actually are still available I’ll make sure to modify the post with the details.
All of the proceeds of these patches sold went to the Silent Warrior Scholarship Fund (SWSF) non-profit organization. The SWSF provides scholarships to individuals with direct familial relationship to a Reconnaissance Marine/0321 or Critical Skills Operator/0372.
