Athena
Mark your calendars for May 1st – 3rd, 2015 because Rogue Exploits is having their first event. Code named Athena this event will last 2 nights and will be something along the lines of a wilderness adventure. The details on the event are sparse but one thing is for certain and that is you will definitely be learning a wide range of skills.

The following description is taken from the Rogue Dynamics sign-up page:

This event is a mixed event consisting of skills ranging from camping, canoeing, fishing, MCMAP, and survival. As part of the registration $75-$100 of each persons registration will go towards charity.

  2. Mission. Rogues will conduct a 2 night Outdoors Course. This course will teach valuable outdoors skills both for practical use and in the manner honoring the Greek Goddess of the outdoors, Athena. As part of the event, funds raised will shared with the American Patriot Outfitters, as well as non-profit of the class’s choosing.

I reached out to one of the instructors running the event to get some clarification on a few items.

Q1: Are there any skills that people need to have coming into this event? Will people who have only camped a few times be fine?
A1: This event is designed as an introduction course. We will be teaching site selection, fire building, fishing and cleaning as well as self defense.

Q2: Is there a required gear list? Anything people flying in should be preparing for? Food?
A2: There is a gear list, which will be sent out to people once they register. Bringing water is critical, even though we will be providing some. Food is covered in your registration.

Q3: Speaking of flying in should people plan on flying in the day before and out the day after? Or, would an early flight on the Friday then a late flight on the Sunday work?
A3: You should plan on coming in the night before and leaving the day after. We did plan this event so it wasn’t necessary, but it would certainly cut down on stress of not having to rush.

Q4: What qualifies your instructors to run these events?
A4: All of our instructors hold certifications in their respective fields, or have extensive experience. For example, our Wilderness First Aid instructor is a NC certified Fire Fighter and Paramedic Instructor who runs his own company on the side. Our fishing instructor runs a Non-Profit focused on getting veterans outdoors fishing and hunting. The self-defense instructor is a Marine Corps Martial Arts Program Instructor.

We can’t wait to see what the future holds for Rogue Dynamics and Rogue Exploits and hopefully this is the first of many amazing and successful events!
